The Good Side of Disappointment

Everyday people are seeing their hopes dashed. They are crushed by disappointment and discouragement. God knows what’s going on — and He’s not far away!

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (Jn 14:27; NRSV)

Peace is a big part of what Jesus brings to a relationship with you. He does not discourage us or give us disappointment as the world does. Instead, He comforts us. He brings peace into our existence — no matter what the happenstance and circumstance of your life might be.

Jesus is not just a theory. He is a way of life. He is yours now and forever!

Ray Wilson was no stranger to disappointment. The interviewer recognized that Ray did not have a pattern of success in his life. He was not what they wanted in a new employee. Ray did not get the job.

One big reason disappointment can hurt so much is that it is an assault on our faith. Disappointment attacks hope and wounds the soul. But we can fight back with a simple, little secret.

When we hope in anything other than Christ, we are recklessly in danger of disappointment. If you live long enough, everything in this world will disappoint you. However, our Lord will never disappoint you. He will never fail you!

When you make Jesus and what He wants for your life to be your hope, it changes everything.

That’s our story and we’re sticking to it. God has a plan and purpose for your life (Jer 29:11). Trust Him!

In Christ.
