The Call To Work

We were created in the image and likeness of a wonderful, working God (Gn 1:27). And though we might toil (Gn 3:17), our work is still a blessing from God.

God has a plan and a purpose for our lives (Jer 29:11-12). Where we work is not an accident, and who works with us is not a coincidence (Is 55:8-9).

Having to “toil” in our work, and yet, being blessed by a loving God are not contradictions. Adam and Eve had it all, but they lost some of the blessing when they chose to sin against God. There is always a consequence for sin, but fear not! Even in our sin, God never ceases to love us.

To confirm this, just look at what God did for Adam and Eve when He made them leave the Garden. He actually did that for their own protection (Gn 3:22-23). And He clothed them so they would be protected against the elements outside the Garden (Gn 3:21).

God still loves us — all of us! That includes those in your workplace who have strayed away from their faith and from the Church. You should do no less. You must love them enough to recognize them and to pray for them.

Do this each day as the spiritual part of your career and work!
